Dilemma #4

Please read the AI dilemma below, discuss the questions and then share with others on our Padelt.

Balancing Innovation and Experience: Lesson Planning

Sima, an English teacher, recently discovered AI tools that help create lesson plans quickly. She is excited because lesson planning takes a lot of time, and AI can make her job easier. These tools offer fresh ideas, save time, and can even personalize lessons based on students’ needs.

However, Sarah also has concerns. She worries that if she relies too much on AI, her lessons may lose creativity and feel less personal. There’s also the risk that the AI might suggest activities that don’t suit her students or school. Additionally, technology can fail, leaving her unprepared if she depends only on AI.

Now, Sarah is unsure what to do. Should she embrace AI and save time, or stick to her own methods to keep her lessons unique? Finding the right balance between using AI and trusting her teaching experience has become a real challenge.

Questions to think about:

1. How can teachers use AI effectively without losing creativity?

2. What should teachers do if the AI’s suggestions don’t fit their students' needs?

3. How can teachers prepare backup plans in case technology fails?
