Dilemma #3

Please read the AI dilemma below, discuss the questions and then share with others on our Padelt.

Afraid of AI: A Teacher's Story

Mr. Abdallah is a 55-year-old English teacher. He has been teaching for 30 years and loves his job. His students learn well with his teaching methods, using books, paper, and pens.

Last week, he noticed that many young teachers at his school were incorporating AI into their lessons, following the latest educational trends.

Mr. Abdallah feels very worried. He doesn't know how to use AI, and he's afraid of making mistakes in front of his students. Many of his students already know about ChatGPT and other AI tools.

"What if the AI doesn't work?" he thinks. "What if my students laugh at me? Maybe I'm too old to learn new things."

But Mr. Abdallah also knows that times are changing. He wants his students to learn modern skills.

Questions to think about:

1. How can Mr. Abdallah overcome his fear of AI?

2. Should teachers be forced to use AI if they don't feel comfortable?
